This was a beautiful and powerful truth. I've been wrestling with my journey to perfection and coming to terms with that oftentimes, it actively feels like a refining fire more than a breezy sail. God has been revealing the truth of his love to me, and how things like labor, freedom (from our will, desire for control), and suffering are all aspects of God's love, we tend to struggle with. I think of someone like Job. Would he still be willing to ensure such suffering if he knew God would ultimately restore him? Probably not. I explore these themes of that journey on my substack. The inevitable painful and complex process of being perfect that we are called to lean into. Thank you for reminding us that this journey really is one of bearing a cross, and we can not escape it.
This is very wise from a (relatively 🤣) young preacher. God will take you to heights that you literally dreamed of as a child, and you will get there and while being blessed understand that the air is much thinner on the mountaintop and it is much harder to breathe.
You will also he forced to descend into the valley where darkness can abound.
Thank you for this reflection, Deac! The air being much thinner on the mountiantop is quite the analogy to further highlight that point. Thank you for sharing that!! You and PC are right, He is Able! Blessings on your day!
