God's relationship with time is fundamentally different from ours. While we are bound by time—seconds, minutes, and years—God is not. Time, as we know it, is a human construct used to order our lives. However, God sovereignly stands outside of time and is active in time. He holds the past, present, and future all at once.
Thus, God does not need 365 days to fulfill His purposes. We often expect Him to work according to our timelines, but His power transcends our constraints. God can achieve in a moment what might take us a lifetime.
The Apostle Peter reminds us: "With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you…” (2 Peter 3:8-9).
As we look toward the dawn of a New Year, envision your boards, select your word of the year, resolve on your goals and resolutions; but ultimately entrust your 2025 plans to the timeline of the One who is not bound by time but is active in time and is always on time. Now unto Him.
Happy New Year, friends.
