It has always been interesting to me that two people can have the same amount of time within a day, and—by the end—one person can conclude that it went by very quickly, and the other, slowly.
For example, regardless if February flew by for you, or if it felt like a drag, we all had the same amount of time within that month: 29 days.
There is really no admonishment I can give against time; time is undefeated. Rust and wrinkles remind us of this. Time is something we can never undo, truly fight against or stop. But as they say, there is no time like the present.
Maybe this is why—in God’s divine wisdom—the words present (current period of time) and present (a gift) are spelled identically. I think it is a reminder and word of caution to us all.
The author of Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time for everything: birth and death, weeping and laughing, silence and speaking (Ecc. 3:1-8). Yet, God has made everything beautiful in its time; for in whatever we face—it its own time—it it ultimately a gift from above.
Today, and the days ahead—regardless how you experience different moments in your life—may God give you the grace to see every present moment you face as a present from God.
